Welcome to OurSpace at Recreation Park!

Thank you for visiting our website!

OurSpace at Rec Park is an exciting opportunity to encourage our entire community to enjoy the historic Recreation Park in Binghamton, New York!

OurSpace will provide an inclusive and accessible environment for all members of our community to enjoy the park. With new and inviting new park elements such as: An accessible playground, gardens, tree deck, there is so much to be excited about!

The City of Binghamton and its surrounding communities (Southern Tier) will also benefit from being the only area in upstate New York with a park specifically developed for full accessibility for all members of our community.

Please explore our site and feel free to contact us with any questions you may have! Come back often for the latest news & updates!

We’re ready to build!

Now is the time for you and your friends to get involved. We need volunteers to help actually build the park. You don’t need to be a skilled laborer to help out. Everyone can help in one way or another.

Our parks crew are hard at work & taking advantage of the sunshine! While it's not a community build week, they are "resetting" the groundwork and tightening up!

Fun fact: These guys set nearly 300 posts in holes, which include digging the hole, setting the post and backfilling.

Thanks guys, for the thousands of things you've done to keep the project safe and sound!

Volunteer with us next week!

We have been so fortunate to have the amazing students from SUNY Broome Teacher Education/Early Childhood's program providing childcare with the support from the folks at St. Thomas Aquinas Church! Thank you to Christine Webb and her students for being there everyday making sure that the little ones had a great time during the build and being on site too when we needed extra hands! We are so grateful for Katrina, Nicole, Kaitlyn , Sabrina, Colleen, Kadeem, Delilah and everyone for this amazing support! ... See MoreSee Less

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

YOUR SUPPORT CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Supporting OurSpace will not only give us the opportunity to complete our proposed project, but it will result in an increased awareness of needs in the community and provide an inclusive support to our youth and families of all abilities.
For individuals with disabilities, the park will open up new possibilities for physical fitness and activities. It will also serve as a place to unite and socialize. For children, it will provide an inclusive environment in which to play and interact with the world and each other.
The City of Binghamton and its surrounding communities (Southern Tier) will also benefit from being the only area in upstate New York with a park specifically developed for special needs individuals. It will serve as a sustainable landmark and significant accomplishment for the area. Furthermore, as an open, public space, OurSpace will be an inclusive environment for the entire community to enjoy.
